New organs are all custom made for the place in question which every part and form will need to fit in a specific planned space. The start will be to study out which is the best location for the acoustics and visual aspect and then depending on space and budget the stop list (ranks of pipes) can be planned to suite a good specification. We do provide all the drawings including 3D visuals to help the client to see how the final organ will look and how it can be planned.
A pipe organ can be one of the most valuable investments for a church as if they are well built, can last for generations and also can give a true glorious experience during services that can help to make the liturgy richer and give inspiration to the congregation.
Organs might seem to be an expensive initial purchase, but taking into account on how much time they can service it shows that it can be a wise investment an also considering the fact that they are built with high durable quality materials and made by expert workmanship in an artistic way.

Basilica of Our Lady of Fair Havens &
St. Dominic, Valletta.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Porto Salvo and St Dominic in Valletta is home to an organ with a rich and fascinating history. Over the centuries, this instrument has undergone several phases of rebuilding and restoration, gradually evolving to meet the liturgical and musical needs of the church throughout the different periods of its history.
The organ first appeared in this church in 1801, presumably as an adaptation or relocation of an older instrument. When the present church was rebuilt, a new organ was installed in 1822, the work of a Benedictine monk from Messina. The organ case from that instrument still survives today. Since then, the organ has undergone various interventions, during which it was repaired, restored, and progressively enlarged.
Before the most recent restoration and reconstruction project, the organ remained a mechanical instrument comprising 12 stops, played from a single 54-note manual and a 25-note pedalboard. However, the installation of an electronic organ in the 1970s unfortunately led to the gradual abandonment of the historic instrument.
In 2019, a decision was taken to restore and enlarge the organ, transforming it once again into an instrument that could be played from a separate console located at ground level for practical and functional reasons. The works consisted in restoring the historic casework, reversing alterations made during the 1930s, and assessing, treating, and restoring both the original pipework and pipes added in more recent times.
Following a detailed analysis of the organ’s state of neglect, it was recommended that the instrument be completely restored, partially rebuilt, modernised, and expanded. Today, the organ incorporates a new tonal scheme, together with additional reconditioned pipes acquired from other sources, offering sounds that both blend with and contrast against the original tones. The organ’s tonal structure has been re-organised, while the new sounds expand its capabilities for contemporary music.
Through this reconstruction, the organ now features 45 stops, playable from three 61-note manuals and a 32-note pedalboard. The instrument is also equipped with modern playing aids, including a registration preset system, a transposer, and an advanced control system that enables automatic performance.
The organ has been given a new lease of life. Not only has it once again become suitable for liturgical use, but it has also become a versatile instrument capable of serving an extensive repertoire of contemporary artistic and performance music. It is suitable for every type of music and capable of delivering a high standard of quality for concert performances.
